Two Growing Companies Bring 69 Jobs to Jacksonville

50 jobs with Embraer S.A.
One of the more hopeful items in the news for Jacksonville recently was the investment in the city made by Embraer S.A. . Mayor Alvin brown worked hard to get these investors to come to town. The company is presently the fourth largest aircraft manufacturer in the world. They are Brazilian, and began operation in August 1969 with help from the Brazilian government. Back then, they were given the contract to create a fighter plane for the Brazilian air force. They started out by making the EMB 326 Xavante a fighter jet. In the 1970s they expanded from producing only military airplanes into the manufacture of aircraft for the commercial market.

The new contract with the Defense department is worth $355 million. The company’s facilities in Jacksonville are located at the Jacksonville International Airport. The 50 jobs the contract provides to the area will be at the facility and will require highly technical skills.

The company makes the A-29 Super Tucano which is used by five different air forces around the world. Embraer will work with it’s partner, the Sierra Nevada Corporation out of Sparks Nevada. Together, the companies will work to manufacture aircraft to be used in Afghanistan among other places.

They are rapidly growing financial company that has recently started to offer insurance services. These services include property, casualty and life insurance. This company needs 19 people from the Jacksonville area immediately. They want 10 loan officers, six trainee managers for their accelerated management program, two licensed insurance agents, and one person to advise on income tax preparation. They need these people immediately.
